South men maintain second place with road win

On Friday, the South Stanly men’s basketball team earned a 77-56 road win over the South Davidson Wildcats.

Jaquez Cooke led the Bulls (13-8, 11-2) with 27 points, including 15 in the first half. Jadius Jones added 12 off the bench for South Stanly.

Hayden Hicks led three in double figures for the Wildcats (2-16, 2-9) with 14.

“It was a very physical game. I’m proud of our guys for keeping their composure throughout. Jaquez really set the tone defensively and everyone raised their level midway through the second quarter,” South coach Sean Whitley said.

South Stanly hosts North Stanly (10-8, 7-4) Tuesday.
