Carolina Christian teachers, students receive honors

VFW Post 6365 and Auxiliary recently recognized teachers at Carolina Christian School as Teachers of the Year through their Citizenship Education Awards.

The following teachers were recognized as Teacher of the Year at the local level, District 12, and went on to compete at the state level: Trent Thomas, high school teacher at CCS, and Cassie Little, middle school teacher at CCS.

Carolina Christian also had three recognized as the Teacher of the Year in their respective grade levels for the local VFW chapter: Angela Hutcheson, kindergarten, Bob Hammond, lower school teacher, and Gary Harwood, middle school teacher.

Carolina Christian Middle School students participated in the VFW Patriot’s Pen essay contest.

Seventh-graders Kert Scheimreif and Jax Smith were awarded the youth essay award citation for winning the local competition and $100.

Twenty-three students received the Patriot’s Pen Youth Essay Certificates of Merit.
Each of these students has been designated as “Outstanding Young Spokespersons of the Year” by the local VFW chapter.

Students receiving the Certificate of Merit were Lindsay Thomas, Elana Love, Zoey Simpson, Lydia Hill, Kirsten Greene, Avery Martin, Zach Pinion, Cody Whitley, A.J. Little, Mason Furr, Miles Wages, Alex Chaplin, Emily Barker, Annelise Barbee, AnnaLeah Anderson, David Aljets, Logan Marker, Jose Chuc, Anna Grace Clay, Tyler Everts, Ella Whitecotton and Clint Kiker.
