Pfeiffer track teams compete at JDL College Challenge

The Pfeiffer University men’s and women’s track and field teams traveled to the JDL FastTrack in for the JDL College Team Challenge on Thursday, Feb. 7
The meet featured several highlights for the Falcons. The women’s side featured an event win and a new school record. On the men’s side, four additional athletes qualified for the ECAC Indoor Championships.
Senior Kylie Spencer won the women’s 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:00.42. Her effort bested her previous school record by seven seconds. Spencer is the first Falcon to win an event this season. Freshman Aaliyah Thomas had a career day in the weight throw with a toss of 11.10 meters or 36-feet, 5 inches.Her throw beat her previous best throw by more than one meter.
On the men’s side, Freshman Nevin Foster qualified for the ECAC Championships in two events. Foster turned in a top ten finish in the 400-meter dash finishing 7th with a time of 51.94. His time was good enough to qualify him for the championship in three weeks. Foster later teamed up with Tevin Colson, Dontavius Monroe and Dakota Freeman in the 4x400m relay, finishing in third-place 3rd with a time of 3:33.90.
Sophomore Keyshawn Campbell turned in a solid performance in the 60-meter dash, running a time of 7.24 seconds. His time was good enough to qualify him for the ECAC Championships.
Other notable performances on the men’s side included senior Sean Bryant finishing fourth place in the 60-meter dash. His time of 7.03 seconds was his second fastest collegiate effort in a race that featured two professional runners (one Olympian). Kenan Waltower turned in a seventh place finish in the 60-meter hurdles running a time of 8.86.
The Falcons will travel back to Winston-Salem next Friday and Saturday, February 15th and 16th for the JDL DMR Invitational. The meet will serve as the final regular season indoor meet for the team.
