North men win at East Rowan

The North Stanly men’s basketball team logged a 52-28 non-conference win Thursday night at the 3A East Rowan Mustangs.

Bryson Childress added to his school and county-leading totals with 23 points in the win for North (12-8). Childress now has 1,931 points; he needs 69 to become the first Stanly men’s player with 2,000 or more points. He needs 111 more to tie the all-time Stanly record in men’s or women’s basketball. Currently, South Stanly’s Latoya Wilson has the all-time record for men or women with 2,042 points.

Gavin Sprinkle led the Mustangs (9-11) with 10.

The Comets have four games left in the regular season, all in YVC play starting with Friday’s home game versus North Moore. North Stanly then finishes with a three-game road trip with games at West Montgomery, North Rowan and Gray Stone.
