North Stanly men win fourth straight, top North Moore

Celebrating Senior Night Friday, the North Stanly men’s basketball team earned an 89-34 win over the North Moore Mustangs, improving to 13-8 overall and 9-4 in the Yadkin Valley Conference.

Senior guard Bryson Childress inched closer to the 2,000-point plateau for his career, scoring 28 in the win for the Comets, including 17 in the first quarter. He now has 1,959.

Childress led four in double figures in points for North Stanly. Center Nalik Veasley added 13 while Carson Lowder and Doug Smith each added 11. Ten Comets had points in the game.

Colt Luther was the top scorer for North Moore (3-18, 3-11) with nine.

With the win, the Comets are in fourth place, one game behind Albemarle (11-4) and one and a half games behind South Stanly (11-3). North Stanly has three games left this week, playing at West Montgomery Tuesday, North Rowan on Wednesday and at South Stanly Friday.
