Sheriff’s Office intensifies search for woman missing since August

Juanita Duley has not heard from her daughter since around 8 p.m. Aug. 21, 2018.

Six months later, efforts to find 25-year-old Sasha Lee Naylor of Albemarle have increased.

The N.C. Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert Thursday for Naylor. The alert is used for individuals believed to be suffering from dementia or other cognitive impairment.

Stanly County Sheriff Jeff Crisco said his office was made aware of her status Jan. 8 when an individual from a missing persons organization spoke on behalf of Duley.

“We’ve been working the case actively,” Crisco said.

The alert was issued because she was pregnant and due to give birth in early February, Crisco said. Since there is no record of her giving birth, the alert was issued due to her safety and the safety of the child, Crisco said.

“No one seems to know where she’s at or nothing,” Duley said.

Duley, who lives in Parkersburg, W.Va., said Naylor moved to Albemarle looking for work. When she had saved enough money, she was to come back for 1-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son.

“She’s not the kind of person to just up and take off,” Duley said. “She’s always calling me.”

Duley said the family created a Facebook page about her daughter, and her name has been added to national missing person websites.

Naylor is described as 5-foot-4 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. She has long red hair and blue eyes. The Sheriff’s Office says she has a barb wire tattoo with “Juanita” on her ankle, a baby feet tattoo on her back, a shamrock tattoo on her hip, “Catherine Mayo” tattooed on her left shoulder and she was wearing a cross necklace.

She was last seen at 24677 Kates Dr., Albemarle. Besides Stanly County, Crisco believes Naylor could be in Parkersburg, W.Va., or Vincent, Ohio, where the family formerly lived. She was last seen operating a brown or gold 1998 Ford Tempo with an Ohio license plate of GRS-3043, and her last known contact was at the Community Inn on Aug. 21, 2018.

“We don’t know the circumstances surrounding her disappearance,” Crisco said.

As for the report of cognitive impairment, Duley said her daughter blacked out a few years ago and couldn’t remember parts of what happened that month.

“I didn’t know if it maybe happened again because there’s nobody down there who she knows,” Duley said. “[She’s] just not acting like Sasha.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 704-986-3690.

If she could talk to her, Duley said she would tell her: “I miss her and that I love her and I need her to come home.

“It doesn’t matter what has happened,” she added. “There’s nothing that would stop me from loving her. I love her unconditionally. She’s got a little girl and a little boy who miss her.”
