Stanly Extension to offer $1,000 scholarship

Stanly County Extension & Community Association will offer the Betty Watson Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to a Stanly County student.
To qualify for this scholarship the applicant must be a resident of Stanly County. The deadline for the Betty Watson Scholarship is April 1.
The Betty Watson Scholarship applicant must be a resident of Stanly County. Priority will be given to students enrolled in Human Development & Family Studies, Child Development, Nutrition, Food Science or Ag & Extension Education at an accredited college or university.
Adults continuing their education in an accredited college program will also be considered.
Ranking criteria for applicants will include:
• 25 percent — intent to major in Human Development & Family Studies, Child Development, Nutrition, Food Science, or Agriculture Extension Education;
• 25 percent — Scholastic Achievement (GPA/ Class Rank);
• 25 percent — College Aptitude (grades-enrolled) or SAT/ACT Scores;
• 25 percent — Initiative, Character and/or Leadership Ability.
Scholarship applications are also available from the N.C. Cooperative Extension-Stanly County Center in the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center. Pick up an application or call 704-983-3987 and request they be mailed to you.
Completed applications the Betty Watson Scholarship should be returned by the April 1 deadline to the N.C. Cooperative Extension Service, Stanly County Center, 26032-E Newt Road, Albemarle, NC 28001.
