West baseball moves to 2-0 with road win at Pinecrest

The West Stanly baseball squad took advantage of four errors and earned a 5-1 road non-conference win Wedneday at the Pinecrest Patriots.

Lukas Scott earned the win on the mound for West (2-0) allowing no earned runs on four hits in five innings, walking three and striking out eight. Cody Kidd and Brady Parker struck out five in an inning each of relief for the Colts.

Pres Ostert pitched 3.1 innings and took the loss for the Patriots (3-1), allowing one earned run on three hits, walking three and posting six strikeouts.

Cody Naylor led off the third for West with a double to right. He reached third on a bunt single from Nathan Eury and scored on a Scott RBI single.

Two hit batters and a walk with one out loaded the bases for West in a three-run top of the fourth inning. Eury reached on an error, Scott added an RBI sacrifice fly and Kidd drew a bases-loaded walk putting the Colts up 4-0.

Pinecrest’s only run in the game came with no outs in the bottom of the sixth on a single, walk and a Colts fielding error.

West added a run in the seventh when Trent Wilson reached on an error for the game’s final score.

The Colts go on the road Saturday for a non-conference matchup at South Caldwell.
