Gray Stone soccer wins at home over South Stanly

The Gray Stone women’s soccer team improved to 2-1 on the season and 2-0 in Yadkin Valley Conference play with a 9-0 home win over the South Stanly Rebel Bulls.

Anna Grace Sumner had a hat trick to lead the offense for the Knights while Payton Disser added two goals and two assists. Cyan Vang, Taylor Qurey and Caroline Garner also scored goals for Gray Stone.

Katie Leckonby and Angelina Lappin combined for a shutout in goal for the Knights.

Gray Stone scored four goals in the first half and five in the second, invoking the nine-goal rule.

The Knights play tonight against Covenant Day at Providence High School in the Queen City Showcase.

Gray Stone will also host the 2019 East – West Challenge at Catawba College Mar. 15-16. The Knights play Raleigh Charter Mar. 15 at 5 p.m. with Franklin Academy taking on the Community School of Davidson at 7 p.m. On Saturday morning, Gray Stone faces Franklin Academy at 9 a.m. with Raleigh Charter and CSD playing afterwards.
