Public meetings on staggered school times moved to Wednesday and Thursday

The four public meetings about staggered school start times have been rescheduled to Wednesday and Thursday.

The meetings will still be at the same scheduled times at the Stanly Commons — 4 p.m. for daycare owners and 6 p.m. for parents and the community.

Scott Denton, a consultant with School Efficiency Consultants, was supposed to facilitate the meetings, but due to a family emergency the meetings have been moved back two days, said Hope Miller-Drye, administrative and board assistant at SCS.

Aquadale Elementary, Stanfield Elementary, Richfield Elementary, Central Elementary, Millingport Elementary and Albemarle Middle School are the schools that would be affected by the staggered start time.

The school buses would arrive at 8:30 a.m. and the affected schools would start at 9 a.m.

The following week, a meeting will be conducted with the school board to provide it with a summary of the findings and recommendations from the public meetings.

For anyone who can’t make either meeting, video of the meetings will be broadcast on YouTube.
