Ricky Allen Laney Sr., 65, of New London passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 in the Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis.
His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Kendalls Baptist Church with the Rev. Kent Little, the Rev. Dusty Laney and the Rev. Keith Walters officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care.
Born May 11, 1953 in Asheville, he was the son of the late Howard E. Laney and Margie R. Abernathy Laney and was a retired master sergeant with the North Carolina Air National Guard.
Mr. Laney was a member of Kendalls Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school director and choir member.
He was also a Gideon and a member of the New London Fire Department, where he also served on the Board of Directors.
Mr. Laney is survived by his wife, Rebecca Abernathy Laney, of the home; sons Ricky Allen Laney Jr. (Wendy) of New London, Michael Dustin Laney (Stacey) of Albemarle and Jeremy Shane Laney (Elizabeth) of Albemarle; sisters Carolyn Wells and Debra Laney of Tennessee and grandchildren Mykel, Nash, Tate, Jade and Cheyenne.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Kendalls Baptist Church, Mission Trip, 32157 Kendalls Church Road, New London, NC 28127.
