Ira “Gene” Yow, 76, of Stanfield, went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 21, 2019.
Gene was born Sept. 12, 1942 in Concord, to the late John Houston Yow, Sr. and the late Attie Mae Love Yow.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Barbara Jean Morton Yow of the home; son, Darrell Eugene Yow; daughter, Amy Jean Yow Williams; son, Michael Eugene Yow and wife Misty; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, John H. Yow Jr.; sister, Nancy Tucker; brother, Harvey Yow; brother, Stephen Yow; brother, Glenn Yow; and sister, Janie Burleson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Gene proudly served in the United States National Reserves. He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, where he served as an usher for many years.
Gene will be dearly missed by all those who knew him and loved him.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Philadelphia Baptist Church, 12568 Philadelphia Church Road, Stanfield.
The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., officiated by Dr. Carey C. Snellings.
Gene will be laid to rest in the church cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Philadelphia Baptist Church.
