Playing a rare Saturday afternoon contest, the West Stanly baseball squad scored early and often in a 12-6 win over a former Rocky River Conference rival, the PIedmont Panthers.
Cody Kidd pitched three innings to earn the win for West Stanly (6-1) allowing one earned run on two hits with three strikeouts.

Lukas Scott, Brady Parker and Hunter Stoker pitched four combined innings of relief for the Colts, striking out three and issuing one walk.

Parker was the only West reliever in the game to allow the Panthers (3-6) any runs, surrendering four earned runs in the top of the fifth.

By that point, West Stanly had amassed a 12-1 lead, having scored all 12 runs in the first three innings.

Cody Naylor had a big game for West going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
Kidd added a two-run shot in the first inning and drove in three runs in the game, while Parker and Stoker both drove in two runs each.

Stoker’s two-RBI triple in the bottom of the third rounded out the scoring in the game for the Colts, including a six-run effort in the third.

West opens a three-game RRC series Tuesday at home against Central Academy (3-4, 0-3).
The Cougars lost three games last week to Mt. Pleasant.
