The West Stanly baseball team stayed perfect in Rocky River Conference play with a 3-1 home win Tuesday over Central Academy.

Lukas Scott threw six solid innings for the Colts (7-1, 4-0 RRC) striking out nine allowing one earned run on five hits. Cody Kidd set the Cougars (3-5, 0-4) down in order in the seventh inning striking out two batters to earn the save.

West took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third after Connor Tucker led off with a double which head coach Chad Yow called “a missle to the gap.”

Nathan Eury moved Tucker to third with a sacrifice bunt then Scott brought him home with a double to left. Scott later scored on a Kidd RBI line drive to center field.

Wyatt Brown cut the Colts’ lead in half with an RBI single in the top of the fourth.

West got the run back in the bottom of the fifth on a two-out fielding error.

“(It was) a well-played ball game from us with some timely hitting,” Yow said regarding Tucker’s double to lead off the West third inning.

Yow added Scott on the mound was “solid” and said West’s “timely defense ended any threats by Central Academy.”

The West coach also said he was proud of his players “for continuing to play hard even through tough and adverse weather conditions which began our season.”

The three-game series with the Cougars continues with road games scheduled for Wednesday and Friday.
