Gray Stone’s Griffin tosses softball no-hitter Monday

In one of the games of a Yadkin Valley Conference softball doubleheader against North Moore Monday, the Gray Stone Knights got a solid effort on the mound from Karlie Griffin who threw a no-hitter in a 1-0 win over the Mustangs.

Griffin pitched five innings for the Knights and did not give up a hit issuing no walks while striking out one batter in the win for Gray Stone (2-7, 2-7 YVC).

The only run of the game came in the top of the third inning. Ilka Kuleba reached on a dropped third strike, moved to second on a groundout then third on a passed ball. Grace Bruinsma then reached base on a fielding error to score Kuleba.

The Knights will host Albemarle on Friday.
