The Friends of the E.E. Waddell Center will host the annual community barbecue competition at the center from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Doors open to the public at 11:30 a.m.

Barbecue, ribs and chicken will be available for patrons for $12 tickets which can be purchased at the door. All event patrons can sample as much food as they desire from each of the community teams demonstrating their cooking skills on the grill.

This event will feature several grill masters from the area putting their skills to work while enjoying the camaraderie of their competition. Prizes will be awarded for Boston butt, chicken, ribs and the Griller’s Choice Award.

Proceeds from previous events have allowed the Friends of the EEWC to secure funding for a sign which will be erected within a few weeks and allow the EEWC to advertise community events taking place at the facility.

The center’s stated future plans for funds raised are to equip the facility with enhanced audio/visual sources which have been identified as a high priority.
