Walmart expects to spend an estimated $87 million this year in North Carolina through the remodeling of 18 stores, as well as the launch and continued expansion of several customer-focused innovations.

The Albemarle store at 781 Leonard Ave. is on the list for remodeling.

According to Walmart, enhanced electronics departments with interactive displays, updated pharmacies with private consultation rooms and expansion of the apparel and hardware departments are part of the plans, as well as new signage and flooring throughout and new paint inside and outside.

Some Walmart stores will add other services such as grocery pickup and delivery.

A Walmart spokesperson said specific stores with those enhancements will be revealed later.
