After recovering from a bout of double pneumonia late last year which nearly cost him his life, school board member Jeff Chance is recovering from another injury.

This time though, it’s not life-threatening.

Chance fell and broke his left femur about two weeks ago. He was taken to the emergency room at CHS-Stanly and transferred to Charlotte for surgery.

He is out of work for six to eight weeks while he completes physical therapy.

During a special called school board meeting last Monday, Chance was present via phone.

He hopes to be able to return to school board meetings in about two weeks, he said.
