Concert Band to present ‘Yabba Dabba’ performance

The Stanly County Concert Band, with Pfeiffer University band students, will present “It’s a Yabba Dabba Cyber Animated Musical World!” at 7:30 p.m. April 25 at the Stanly County Agri-Civic Center.
Offered to the public free of charge, this concert will feature themes from animated cartoon, movies and video games.
Included are themes from “The Flintstones” and “The Jetsons,” as well as video games Halo, Civilization IV and Kingdom Hearts.
Notable songs are featured from the Pixar Studios such as “You’ve Got a Friend” from “Toy Story,” “The Spirit of Adventure” from “Up,” “The Glory Days from “The Incredibles,” “The Big Race” from “Cars,” and “Ratatouille Main Theme.”
Songs from “Shrek” are planned, as well as a medley of themes from “The Simpsons,” “Family Guy,” “King of the Hill” and “American Dad.”
The Stanly County Concert Band is directed by Carmella Hedrick (Pfeiffer University Band director), Tim Hedrick (retired Albemarle High School Band director) and Frank Poolos (North Stanly High School Band director).
The Stanly County Concert Band is made up of people from the community, local music teachers, Pfeiffer faculty and Pfeiffer students.
Rehearsals are 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. each Thursday in the Pfeiffer University Band Room.
The Stanly County Concert Band will also perform at 7:30 p.m. May 2 at Market Street Station.
