West baseball tops Central Cabarrus in Easter tourney opener

In the opening game of the 2019 East Rowan Easter baseball tournament Saturday, the West Stanly Colts rallied from a one-run deficit to go on to a 7-3 win over Central Cabarrus.

Michael Crayton went the distance for the Colts (17-3), giving up one earned run on nine hits with two strikeouts.

Trent Wilson had two hits for West, including a two-run home run which was part of a five-run effort in the bottom of the third, rallying the Colts from a 2-1 deficit.

Austin Stoker also had two hits for West, including a two-RBI single in the third. Brady Parker and Nathan Eury also added RBI during the game.

West advances to the semifinals of the winners bracket and will take on host East Rowan at 7 tonight at the ball field behind Granite Quarry Elementary School.
