Stanfield’s property tax to remain at 32 cents rate

The 2019-2020 budget proposal for the Town of Stanfield recommends the property tax rate remain at 32 cents per $100 valuation — the same rate as in years past.

The 2019-2020 total expenditures for both the General Fund and Enterprise Fund is $1.4 million.

These numbers are a slight increase compared to 2018-2019 budget, where the total expenditures totaled $1.2 million.

The proposed General Fund expenditures total $1 million, up from $855,000 for last fiscal year. The total includes $185,500 for general government, $399,500 for public safety, $130,000 for transportation Powell, $68,000 for maintenance, $102,000 for environmental and sanitation and $168,000 for parks and recreation.

Major appropriations in the General Fund expenditures include $88,600 for general government employees’ full-time salaries, $220,500 for public safety employees’ full-time salaries, $123,000 for street maintenance and repairs, $25,200 for maintenance employees’ full-time salaries, $102,000 for waste and recycling and $45,350 for parks and recreation employees’ full-time salaries.

The proposed Enterprise Fund expenditures total $370,000, up from $353,500 for last fiscal year. The total includes $120,000 for the water and sewer department, $70,000 for water operations and $180,000 for sewer operations.

Major appropriations in the Enterprise Fund expenditures include water and sewer employees’ full-time salaries, $105,000 for sewer treatment and $52,000 for wholesale water purchase.

The General Fund revenue, which also totals $1 million, includes $409,500 from property taxes, $347,000 from sales and use tax, $84,600 from franchise tax, $199,500 from intergovernmental and $12,400 from other services.

The Expenditure Fund revenue, which also totals $370,000, includes $128,000 from water, $219,000 from sewer and $23,000 from other services.

The town will introduce the budget and have a public hearing during the June 6 town council meeting.
