The Marymount University women’s lacrosse team earned a trip to the Eastern College Athletic Conference tournament semifinals on Wednesday, defeating Pfeiffer University, 19-5, at Long Bridge Park.

The Falcons struck first, needing only 40 seconds to score the game’s first goal when Startraya Galloway connected on a pass from Meagan Bourque to put Pfeiffer up 1-0. Marymount junior Eliana Cassel quickly tied the game on a free-position score just eight seconds later.

The goal sparked a 4-0 run for the Saints, with Cassel and senior Jessica Crew each scoring two goals.

Pfeiffer cut the lead to one, 4-3 when Galloway and Sophia Griffin scored but two more goals from Crew began an eight-goal run for the Saints to close the half.

Marymount senior Kelly Campbell found the back of the net for a 7-3 lead, on an assist from junior Madison Davis, Davis netted two-straight scores. She tallied her fourth-straight point on the team’s next score, assisting freshman Taylor Young for a 10-3 edge.

Crew and Young each added another goal before the break, as the Saints led 12-3 at halftime.

At the half, Marymount led in shots, 18-13, draw controls, 10-6, and ground balls, 11-6. The team also converted five-of-eight free-position chances.

Crew continued her big day with the Saints’ first goal of the second half just under five minutes into the period to reach the running clock. She finished the game with seven goals and one assist for eight points, which brought her season total to 100 points and set the single-season program record for points.

The Saints continued to roll in the second half, outscoring the Falcons 7-2, as Crew and senior Bridgette Stacom each scored twice in the period. Galloway scored both Falcon goals, one on a free position opportunity and one on a man-up opportunity.

The loss ends the Falcon’s season at 10-2 overall while Marymount improves to 13-7 overall.
