The N.C. State Highway Patrol says the driver of the Dodge pick-up truck that ran a stop sign last week, resulting in a three-vehicle crash, has been charged.

Elvy Flores-Matamor was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, according to the Highway Patrol.

The accident later resulted in the death of Albemarle resident Cynthia Thomas.

Fifteen children, ages 3 to 5, were passengers aboard a Stanly County Head Start bus that was also involved in the accident. The children and the bus driver were not seriously injured. Flores-Matamor was also not injured.
