Locust Police Department said shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday, a white male entered Woodforest Bank inside the Walmart in Locust and displayed a note to an employee saying he wanted money and that he had a gun.

No weapon was ever displayed during the incident.

The man left the business with an undisclosed amount of currency, Sgt. Kevin O’Connor said in a press release.

Locust officers arrived two minutes after being dispatched, but the individual had already left the area in what was possibly identified as a silver SUV. He was described as a white male wearing a light blue shirt, jeans and possibly a camo hat, approximately 6 feet tall, unshaven but without a full beard, crooked teeth, and a very southern accent, O’Connor said.

Locust Police are working to forward photos to The Stanly News & Press to assist with the search. Anyone with tips can call Locust Police at 704-888-4744.
