SCCM receives grant from Cannon Foundation
The Cannon Foundation, Inc. has awarded $50,000 to Stanly Community Christian Ministry to help support repairs and renovations at the Clothing Closet, 1324 E. Main St., Albemarle, including a new roof, flooring and energy efficient lighting installation.
The Clothing Closet falls under the nonprofit designation of SCCM and generates 68 percent of yearly revenue, providing support for programs of SCCM.
Programs include assistance with housing-related expenses, food pantries in Albemarle and Norwood, and Community Tables (soup kitchens) in Albemarle and Norwood.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support and generosity of The Cannon Foundation,” SCCM Executive Director Heather Kilde said. “Without their support, it would not have been possible to make these necessary repairs to maintain a pleasant shopping experience for customers, which in turn generates revenue for SCCM’s services to our neighbors in need.”
