There will be a special-called school board meeting at 5:30 p.m. June 20 to discuss a variety of subjects, including updating the public and the board about busing and early school enrichment programs.

Early school start programs will continue to have after-school activities provided by the SPARK (Students and Parents in Academics, Relationships and Knowledge) program, Superintendent Dr. Jeff James said. The YMCA will also offer after-school activities.

The school system is also looking into splitting SPARK up for morning and afternoon activities at certain late start schools.

SPARK includes STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) elements, as well as art activities.

SCS is also trying to get activities such as yoga in place for late start schools.

The June 20 meeting will also include a consideration to pass a resolution for the budget.
