The new KFC restaurant that’s coming to Locust will be breaking ground in about two weeks, said Scott Efird, the city’s planning and zoning director.

The owner is in the final process of buying the land, which will be on the southwest corner of Browns Hill Road and N.C. Highway 24-27.

Signs should be coming up shortly about the new restaurant.

Efird said the restaurant should be open sometime in the early fall.

The building will be 3,016 square feet, he added.
