Harwood piano students present recital

The piano students of Joyce Harwood presented a recital on May 20 at Second Street Presbyterian Church.

Students playing in their first piano recital were Mayeri Sanchez and Jair Sanchez. Other student performers were Ella Morgan, Andrew Harwood, Amelia Holt, Mia Benoy, Emily Williamson, Polly Nantz, Seth Richards, Claire Mauldin, Catherine Thornburg, Nate Ludeking, Sarai Lopez, Ben Williamson, Melani Sanchez, Rachel Stewart, Spencer Lambert, Wesley Rodgers, Jack Williamson, Rachel Thornburg, Allyson Harkey, Tyler Horton, Neidin Shelnutt, Ethan Richards, Rebecca Claxton, Jonathan Claxton and Emma Nantz.

At the conclusion of the recital, the students were presented the certificates and pins that they were awarded in the recent National Piano Playing Auditions.

Several students were recognized for playing on the National Honor Rolls (10-piece memorized program) for five or more years, and were presented a special composer pin.

The students and the years they have played are as follows: Five Years — Catherine Thornburg; Six Years — Spencer Lambert, Ben Williamson; Seven Years — Allyson Harkey, Rachel Thornburg; Eight Years — Emma Nantz, Jack Williamson; Nine Years — Ethan Richards.

Rebecca Claxton and Neidin Shelnutt were recognized as high school graduates.
