Catawba College Baseball Coach, Jim Gantt, has been named the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Southeast Region Coach of the Year. It marks the third time Gantt has won the award, which he also claimed in 2012 and 2015.

This season, Gantt led Catawba to its third NCAA II Finals appearance. The Catawba Indians won the Southeast Region 2 Tournament then swept top-ranked North Greenville in a best two-of-three Southeast Super Regional.

Catawba finished the season at 47-14, equaling the school record for wins in a season. It marked the ninth time in the past 16 seasons that the Indians reached 40 wins.
