Detectives at the Albemarle Police Department are investigating a theft at Walmart on Leonard Avenue that occurred early Monday morning. 

At 2:33 a.m., an unknown male in a gray vehicle went into Walmart and gained access to the locked jewelry boxes near the front of the store, police say. More than $7,000 worth of merchandise was stolen.

Police are asking for help with identifying the suspect and his vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Albemarle Police Department at 704-984-9500.
