Stanly County Schools utilizing new parent communication app

Stanly County Schools is working on rolling out a new app to assist parents.

The app, called Sangha, will allow parents the ability to receive cellphone notifications as well as two-way notification with teachers in a secure environment.

It will also allow SCS to send messages to different platforms (school system’s website, text notifications and social media sites) all at once.

According to the Sangha website, schools can “use Sangha for sending announcements, alerting everyone in urgent situations, planning sign-up events, scheduling parent-teacher meetings and messaging parents.”

“This integrates everything we do,” Superintendent Dr. Jeff James said. “It takes care of everything in one stop.”

It will also save time.

“What would take five to six minutes to get a message out can now take a minute,” said Elliot Brooks, lead administrator of media and instructional technology for SCS.

For instance, if school is canceled due to inclement weather, James simply logs on to the Sangha app or website and sends out a message that will go to all the school platforms at once.

Parents will receive more information about the app next week, James said.
