Stanly County Sheriff Deputy Francisco Porras, who was involved in a three-car collision Monday, is okay, but is “just going to be real sore,” Highway Patrol First Sgt. Matt Jackson said.

Around noon Monday, Porras, responding to a distress call, collided with Carolyn and Ronald Williams, of Ansonville, who were driving a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder, at the intersection of West Main Street and U.S. Highway 52.

Highway Patrol is in consultation with the District Attorney’s office, but at this time Jackson does not expect Porras to be charged. Any disciplinary action will be handled internally, he said.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage, Jackson said.

Carolyn Williams had minor injuries while Ronald Williams had more severe injuries, though neither are life threatening, Jackson said.

Jennifer Hancock, of Albemarle, who was driving a Toyota, was also hit, but her car received only minor damage. She received minor injuries.

Porras will not be put on administrative leave, Sheriff Jeff Crisco said. He should be back on the job within a few days.
