SCS releasing early due to high afternoon wind gusts

Due to high wind gusts that will likely occur early this afternoon due to Hurricane Dorian and the danger it could cause afternoon busing, Stanly County Schools will be releasing early today.
Early-start elementary schools, middle schools, high schools and early college schools will release at 11:00 a.m. while late-start elementary schools will release after 12:15 p.m., according to the school’s website.
The decision was made by the school system about twenty minutes ago.
Winds around Albemarle could gust as high as 29 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
