Colts volleyball goes to 8-2 with wins

After suffering a setback last week in a loss at Carson, the West Stanly volleyball team returned to form this week with non-conference wins over Union Academy and East Rowan.

West Stanly 3, Union Academy 0
The Colts swept the Cardinals easily in straight sets on Monday night, 25-9, 25-10 and 25-9.

Kayli Cleaver lead the Colts with 10 kills while Dani Moss added six kills and lead the team with eight digs.

Addie Barbee lead the team with 15 assists while Abby Efird had 7. Overall the team had 13 aces.

West Stanly 3, East Rowan 1
The Colts needed four sets on Tuesday night on the road but downed the Mustangs with scores of 25-19, 21-25, 25-20 and 25-15 in favor of the Colts (8-2).

Head coach Stephanie Dutton said the Colts were strong defensively while setter Addie Barbee distributed the ball well with 30 assists.

Freshman Cristin Cline led the team with 12 kills, 14 digs and four aces. Kayli Cleaver had 10 kills, Madison Kee with nine kills, and Dani Moss with eight kills.

Sophomore Caylee Clayton led the team defensively with 16 digs, Freshman Kelsey Parker close second with 14 digs.

West opens Rocky River Conference play Monday on the road at Forest Hills.
