The 14th Annual Fall Festival and Kids Costume Parade is set for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 24 in downtown Albemarle.

The festivities will kick off with a costume parade down North Second Street. Parade participants should arrive in front of Second Street Sundries by 4:45 p.m. At 5 p.m., the North Stanly Marching Comets drum line will lead participants down Second Street.

Children (12 and under) will have the opportunity to trick-or-treat throughout downtown, visiting participating businesses. During this time, Albemarle Parks and Recreation will host a costume contest at Courthouse Square Park.

Other events include face painting, bounce houses and food vendors.

First Baptist Church and Central United Methodist Church will host their fall festivals in conjunction with this event.

Downtown streets will be closed between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on First and Second streets between North and South streets, and Main Street between Depot and Third streets.

The Fall Festival is a collaborative effort of the City of Albemarle, Albemarle Downtown Development Corporation and Albemarle Parks and Recreation and is part of the Autumn Extravaganza, a series of weekend-long activities in downtown Albemarle as part of the Ten Days of Uwharrie.
