West Stanly sweeps Stanly County Schools cross-country meet

West Stanly claimed wins in both races at Thursday’s 2019 Stanly County Schools meet.

Women’s Results

The Colts finished with 19 points while North (48) was second and South (74) third.

West’s Natalie Almond was first with a 21:56 followed by North’s Lexi Goode (23:03).

The Colts got the next four slots in the top 10 from Savanah Hendzel (23:21), Laney McCollum (23:31), Makalyn Morton (23:45) and Katherine Pollard (23:46).

South’s Jocelyn Vazquez was seventh in 24:24 while the Colts’ Kaelynn Morris took eighth with a 24:32. North’s Milena Hernandez was ninth (24:37) and West’s Aniston Hahn (24:43) rounded out the All-County team.

Men’s Results

West claimed the win over South 27 to 31 with North (71) in third.

Colt runner Korbin McNeill was first overall in 18:22 followed by teammate James Shue (18:29).

Three South runners took the next places: Davis Wright (18:30), Ranfere Garcia (18:32) and Daniel Vazquez (18:39).

West’s Blayne Morton was sixth in 18:43 followed by South’s Jadius Jones (18:48). Colt Aidan Hiott was eighth (18:49) while North’s Koby Poole was ninth (19:01). West’s Daniel Brattain was 10th (19:08).
