Four Stanly volleyball teams qualify for state playoffs

Of the five teams playing high school volleyball in Stanly, four have qualified for the NCHSAA state playoffs.

2A Playoffs
West Stanly (22-3) is a No. 6 seed and hosts No. 27 Bandys (11-10) Saturday at 2 p.m.

A win for West would put the Colts at home against either No. 11 Patton (20-6) or No. 20East Henderson (10-16).

1A Playoffs
South and Gray Stone will both host games Saturday.

Gray Stone (tips off at 1 p.m. as the No. 13 seed taking on No. 20 Pine Lake Prep (13-9).

The Bulls are a No. 14 seed and host No. 19 Swain County (12-11) at 4 p.m.

South Stanly then would either be on the road at No. 3 seed Polk County (19-4) or host No. 30 Langtree Charter (9-11) Tuesday night.

The Comets are the only team from Stanly on the road. North goes to No. 8 Highlands (13-12) for a 2 p.m. match.

A win for the Comets would put North either on the road Tuesday at No. 8 Murphy (22-3) or at home against No. 24 Union Academy (11-11).
