Albemarle men’s basketball falls to North Rowan

The losing streak for the Albemarle men’s basketball team continued Friday night in the team’s Yadkin Valley Conference opener, a 78-61 road loss to North Rowan.

M.J. Raye led Albemarle (2-4, 0-1) with 24 points, 19 coming in the second half when the Bulldogs trailed 35-20.

Camarie McNeil scored 12 of his 14 points for the Bulldogs in the second half as well.

Zay Davis led three in double figures for the Cavaliers (1-1, 1-0 YVC) with 18 points. Denario Robinson added 16 points while Quashawn Carpenter scored 14.

Albemarle’s season was scheduled to continue Monday night at home against Winston-Salem’s Carver High School.

The Bulldogs then return to YVC play Tuesday on the road at Uwharrie Charter.

Albemarle then travels to Pfeiffer University for the first of two games in Merner Gym this season against North Stanly.
