The driver that hit Norwood resident Kim Ingold in September faces four charges and awaits a Jan. 30, 2020 date in Superior Court at Montgomery County Courthouse.

Bethany Haywood of Troy, who is out on bail, was charged recently with felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired, reckless driving to endanger and driving left of center, according to a Montgomery County Court official.

A vehicle Haywood was driving hit Ingold head-on near the Montgomery-Moore county line Sept. 7. Another vehicle driven by Tiffany Jeffries, of Raleigh, was also involved in the accident, according to N.C. Highway Patrol.

Haywood had a broken left ankle and minor injuries, while Jeffries and her brother were uninjured.

Depending on her prior record, Haywood could face a maximum prison sentence of around 11 to 14 years, said Assistant District Attorney Phil Cornett for District 20A, which includes Stanly and Montgomery.
