West Stanly offense struggles in loss at Forest Hills

After opening the season with six wins in a row, West Stanly suffered back-to-back non-conference losses then opened Rocky River Conference play Tuesday with a 61-21 road loss at Forest Hills.

The Colts (6-3, 0-1 RRC) were led by freshman Tayshawn Haygood who scored eight points. West’s leading scorer, Austin Medlin, was limited to five points on 1-of-12 shooting.

Eleven of the 12 players for the Yellow Jackets (7-0, 1-0) scored, led by Alec Topper’s 14 points. Forest Hills was 25-of-62 overall including 9-of-27 on 3-pointers.

West’s point total was the first time the Colts scored less then 30 points since scoring 23 in a loss to Berry Academy Jan. 8, 2010.

West Stanly looks to sweep the regular-season series with Albemarle Thursday when the Colts travel to the Bulldogs.
