The West Stanly women’s basketball team fell to 5-4 overall and 0-1 in the Rocky River Conference with a 51-42 loss at Forest Hills.

Addie Barbee came off the bench to lead the Colts with 12 points including four makes behind the 3-point arc with Dani Moss adding nine.

Hope Benson led the Jackets (3-4, 1-0) with 14 points.

Tuesday’s loss was also the fourth straight loss overall for the West women to the Yellow Jackets including three losses last season.

The Jackets jumped out to a fast lead leading 15-3 after one quarter but the Colts outscored Forest Hills over the next two periods 25-20 to trail 35-28 after three quarters.

In the fourth, West got within one point but were forced to foul to get possession of the ball, putting the Jackets on the line late. Forest Hills hit 9-of-15 free throws in the final period to pull away.

“I knew there was going to be some nervousness, especially going against a rival. I thought once we got the jitters out, we settled in. I’m proud of the growth some of our players showed,” West head coach Chad Horn said.
