South Stanly women still winless after loss at South Davidson

Points have been difficult to come by for the South Stanly women’s basketball team to find this season including Friday’s 37-26 Yadkin Valley Conference loss at South Davidson.

Kalea LeGrande and Sadie Lee scored 10 points each to lead the Bulls (0-8, 0-4 YVC).

This season, South Stanly ranks eighth out of nine teams in the YVC in points scored overall (220) averaging 27.5 games. Winless North Moore trails the the Bulls having scored 163 points in nine games (18. 1 ppg).

Hannah Harrison led the Wildcats (2-6, 2-2) with 12 points.

“The girls had a chance tonight. We played pretty well defensively and rebounded well,” South head coach Sean Whitley said.

“We just couldn’t get shots to fall when we needed them. We are getting better and the girls are buying into what we want do.”

The Bulls take on Sun Valley (2-10) at 3 p.m. Friday in the first round of the Laurie Ann Cruse Christmas Classic in Mount Pleasant.
