Suspect sought in restaurant robbery

Albemarle Police Department is looking for suspects in two robberies Sunday night.

The Dollar Tree Store No. 3483 at 636 N.C. Highway 24-27 Bypass East in Albemarle was robbed at 8:17 p.m., police said.

A man approached the checkout counter and passed a note to the cashier demanding money, police said. The suspect then showed the cashier a handgun, but the cashier did not provide any money to the suspect. As another customer approached, the suspect left. He was last seen running across N.C. 24-27 Bypass East toward Autozone. The description of the robber was a tall, black male, in his 30s, wearing a black zipped up hooded jacket. No one was injured in the robbery.

Papa John’s Pizza No. 0655 at 633 N.C. Highway 24-27 Bypass East in Albemarle also reported a robbery at 9:35 p.m.

An unidentified male entered the store holding a shotgun and passed a note demanding money, police said. The suspect left the store on foot with about $200. The suspect was described as a tall, black male wearing a blue and white jacket, approximately 30 years old.

He was last seen leaving the store on foot. No injuries were reported from this incident.
