Oakboro motorcyclist injured in collision

An accident occurred in the evening of Dec. 26 when a motorcyclist was struck by a truck along N.C. Highway 24-27.

Stacy Thompson, 45, of Oakboro was slowing to make a right turn onto a private drive when his 2003 Harley Davidson was struck  in the rear by a 2003 Ford truck driven by Ryan Penninger, 27, of Concord, according to N.C. Highway Patrol First Sgt. J.M. Jackson.

Jackson said Thompson sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Atrium Health in Charlotte. Penninger sustained no injuries.
