The following letter is in regard to “We need to listen to other people’s views,” published Dec 28-29, 2019:

What a joy to read Anne Lipe’s letter to the editor about listening to one another in love.

We ourselves were preparing to write such a letter, but she has hit the nail on the head and our letter would have been only a repetition of her truth.

We have lived in Stanly County for the past 14 years and have never understood the mean spiritedness of a certain segment of this community that seems to thrive on ugliness and the dark side, with examples from some previous letters to the editor.

In 2020, we call upon more people like Ms. Lipe to join us in greeting each day with gratitude and love, as that is our source of being and acting toward each other.

With love comes open-mindedness and self reflection that allow us to see each other and all of nature as sentient creatures beloved by God.

Hoping for more uplifting letters to the editor.
