Facing the team’s third opponents in the Top 25 MaxPreps 1A poll, the Gray Stone women’s basketball squad pulled away late for a 54-49 win over Lincoln Charter in the Battle for the State showcase tournament at T.W. Andrew High School in High Point.

Seccora Medley led the Knights (10-0) with 17 points and Danika Ray added 10 points. Danielle Werts scored nine while Olivia Payne and Margaret Huckabee had eight points each.

Lincoln Charter (9-5) led by as much as seven in the first half before the Knights battled back. The Eagles got within two points late but free throws from Werts and Jolee King secured the win.

Gray Stone continues its eight-game road trip Jan. 21 at Chatham Central.
