There are several recent polling location changes that have been approved by the Stanly County Board of Elections ahead of the primary on March 3.

Voters in the New London precinct will now vote at the New London Fire Department at 310 S. Main St.

Voters in the Furr No. 1 precinct will vote at the Locust Elementary School gym at 103 School Road.

Voters in the Ridenhour precinct will vote at the New Mount Tabor United Methodist Church Gymnatorium at 40237 Millingport Road in Richfield.

Precincts Albemarle No. 2 and North Albemarle have been merged into a new precinct named North Albemarle 2. Voters will cast ballots at the Stanly Commons DSS Auditorium at 1000 N. First St.

“There’s been a need for some changes for quite some time in some of our precincts,” Stanly County Board of Elections Director Kimberly Blackwelder said.

Blackwelder said a variety of reasons led to the changes including parking and spacing issues with the original voter precincts.

All voters in each of the precincts have been mailed new voting cards with information, including an address, for the new location.

These precinct changes will be the permanent locations for election day this year and into the future, Blackwelder said.

If anyone in the county is unsure of where they should go to vote, they can visit the Stanly Board of Elections website and click on Find “My Precinct’s Polling Place.”
