North Stanly men win big over South Davidson

The North Stanly men’s basketball team stayed a half-game behind South Stanly for third place in the standings with a lopsided home win Friday versus South Davidson, 81-43.

Koby Poole led North (8-7, 5-3 YVC) with 23 points while Dyson Bell added 16 points and T’Ziah Quarles reached double figures with 11.

Damon Hill paced the Wildcats (1-13, 1-7) with 14 points.

North’s offense exploded out of the gate as the Comets outscored the Wildcats 27-17 and led at the halftime break, 52-25.

The Comets return to action Friday at Pfeiffer against Albemarle (6-9, 4-4). Both teams trail third place South Stanly for the third and final automatic qualifier into the state playoffs. North trails the Bulls by a half game in fourth place and leads the Bulldogs by one game.
