South Stanly women fall at Chatham Central

The South Stanly women’s basketball team fell Friday night in a close game at Chatham Central, 44-39.

D’Nyasia Wall led the Bulls (1-14, 1-7 YVC) with 16 points.

Savannah Stilwell was top scorer for Chatham Central (5-9, 4-3) with 14 points.

South got off to a fast start leading after one quarter, 10-4 before the Bears rallied to lead by two at halftime, 23-21.

The Bulls trailed after three quarters, 36-26 but rallied and had a chance to tie the game late, according to head coach Sean Whitley.

“It was a tremendous effort by our girls…I’m very proud of the effort,” Whitley said.

South hosts North Rowan (10-5, 6-1) Tuesday.
