Albemarle women rally past Uwharrie Charter in home win

Tuesday night saw the Albemarle women’s basketball team rally from a slow start at home to earn a 46-44 win over the Uwharrie Charter Eagles.

O’Jayy Stanback led the Bulldogs (6-11, 4-5 YVC) with 18 points on six 3-pointers.

Krystin McLendon added 11 points, all in the second half, for Albemarle while Shada Wall just missed double figures, finishing with nine points.

Bre Books led Uwharrie Charter (9-6, 5-3) with 12 points while Kristen Jensen added nine.

Albemarle trailed 12-1 after one quarter and 16-7 at halftime, but the Bulldogs offense exploded in the second half, outscoring the Eagles 39-28.

Albemarle returns to Pfeiffer University Friday for a rematch with North Stanly. The Bulldogs lost the earlier matchup to the Comets, 68-54.
